COMMERCIAL: Oklahoma Turnpike Oasis Travel Pavilions
Oklahoma
The design for the prototypical Over-the-Road Oklahoma travel pavilion is reminiscent of a covered Conestoga wagon internally lit by lanterns at night. These tensile-structure pavilions recall Oklahoma frontier day events like the Cherokee Strip Land Run of 1893, which conjure up images of covered wagons rolling across the prairie grasslands. Due to the level topography in these turnpike areas of Oklahoma, with a translucent tensile roofing system, these pavilions would be visible both during the day as well as at night from many miles away.
