The University of Illinois at Springfield selected Cordogan Clark to design and construct a new Public Safety Building on their Springfield campus. The design includes a four-car sally port, a holding area, dispatch office, offices, locker rooms, interview and reporting rooms and evidence storage.
Since it opened in the 1970s primarily as a commuter college, the campus has grown to include a police department that now includes 15 officers and a chief. The new facility replacesa current facility, located in an old farmhouse, that doesn't have storage space required by the Commission on the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies; enough space for an interrogation room; nor room to handle bio-hazardous materials.
The new facility is key, as it is designed to allow the University to meet higher standards and serve the student body more effectively.
